What exactly is a "cloud account" in VikingCloud's pricing?
A cloud account is one billable unit that represents: one AWS Account (12-digit Account ID), one GCP Project, one Azure Subscription, or one Kubernetes Cluster. For example, if you have 2 AWS accounts and 1 GCP project, that counts as 3 cloud accounts and you would need the Pro plan. Organization-level resources like AWS Organizations or GCP Folders are not currently supported.
Does VikingCloud install anything on my servers or infrastructure?
No. VikingCloud is completely agentless. We connect to your cloud providers using read-only API credentials and scan your infrastructure externally. For VM vulnerability scanning, we create temporary snapshots of your VM disks, scan them on ephemeral instances, and automatically clean up all temporary resources — typically within 10 minutes. Your running VMs are never stopped, accessed, or modified.
How are my cloud credentials stored and protected?
All cloud credentials are encrypted at rest using industry-standard authenticated encryption before being stored. Encryption keys are managed separately and are never stored alongside your credentials. Credentials are only decrypted in memory during active scans and are never logged or exposed. You can revoke and delete your credentials at any time from the Connections settings page.
